Nava Public Benefit Corporation and Nava United are proud to announce that we have reached a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Nava leadership and Nava United believe that employee input is key to achieving our mission of building simple, effective, and accessible government services. This milestone cements our joint commitment to our clients, staff, and the millions of people we serve.
"As I said when we voluntarily recognized Nava United two years ago, I believe that union negotiations do not have to be inherently adversarial. I'm proud to say that together we came to a fair agreement," said Rohan Bhobe, co-founder and CEO of Nava.
Reaching this agreement required compromises on both sides, but we believe the result is a fair contract that continues to invest in Nava employees, including almost 200 bargaining unit members.
“With this first contract under our belts, we’ve set a foundation for workers at Nava to build on for years to come,” said Claudia Wynn, a product manager at Nava since 2021 and a member of the bargaining committee. “I am excited to see what ripple effect our contract has across the civic tech sector, and hope more workers take up the mantle to leverage their collective power at work.”
The agreement builds upon Nava’s industry-leading existing benefits structure, which includes:
Medical, dental, and vision benefits
Unlimited sick time, including time off for mental health
Four percent 401k salary match
37 paid days off per year
Annual cash bonus program
$2,000 a year to spend on professional development opportunities
Life insurance and short and long-term disability
16 weeks of fully paid parental leave, including weekly meal deliveries, for new birth, adoption, or foster parents
The three-year CBA outlines that Nava employees will get annual compensation increases. They will also be eligible for performance-based increases and for Nava’s cash bonus program, both of which were part of Nava's existing benefits structure.
Thank you to all the teams that came together across Nava, Nava United, and The Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) to reach a CBA.
