Nava wins prime contract to help CDC build data-informed pandemic-readiness

We’ll partner with CDC to optimize and enhance ReportStream, a vital FHIR-based data pipeline that helps public health agencies make data-informed decisions about the public’s health and well-being.

Nava is thrilled to share that we’ve won a 3-year, $26 million prime contract to continue supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) efforts to prepare our public health ecosystem for disease outbreaks. We’ll help CDC expand the functionality of ReportStream — a data pipeline based on the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard. ReportStream aggregates and delivers healthcare data from health organizations and testing facilities directly to State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial (STLT) public health agencies

As a public benefit corporation, Nava is committed to supporting structural change for simple, effective, and accessible government services. That’s why we’re honored to continue this mission-aligned work, which will advance public health equity through modernized data practices that promote interoperability.

“For the past two years, Nava has proudly supported CDC in operating and expanding ReportStream,” said Rohan Bhobe, Nava’s CEO and Co-Founder. “At first, our team was laser-focused on responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, we can shift our focus to the long-term by helping CDC prepare for future disease outbreaks and shoring up its digital infrastructure.”

Previously, Nava helped CDC streamline how public health departments receive disease test results for COVID-19, Mpox (formerly Monkeypox), and influenza. Our shared work helped save 190 years of manual reporting time and contributed to 40,000,000 test results delivered by ReportStream.
